The Science of Getting Rich -

The Right Business for You

When deciding what the right business is for you, Mr. Wattles explains that generally speaking, you will do best in that business which will use your strongest faculties.

However, although it will be easier in terms of effort to get rich if you do so in the occupation for which you are best fitted, you will be happier if you get rich by doing what you want to do.  If you’re passionate about you’re doing you’re more likely to succeed.

Mr. Wattles assures the reader that they can do what they want to do; the fact that someone has a desire to do something is proof that they have within them the power to do it.  For Mr. Wattles, desire is power trying to express itself:

“The desire to play music is the power which can play music seeking expression and development.  The desire to invent mechanical devices is the mechanical talent seeking expression and development.”

So ask yourself the following questions:

- What do you like to do?

What are you good at?

What interests you?

What are your hobbies?

Do you have any specialized knowledge? Do you have any specialized education? Do you have any kind of academic continued education?

What are your passions?

What frustrates you?

Do you play any sports?

What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

If you had a million dollars and a month’s worth of free time, what would you do?

Do you have pets?

-  Do you have kids?  What do you like best about being a parent?  What parenting problems do you have that you wish you could find a solution to?

How can you help others by doing what you enjoy?

Have you ever volunteered anywhere? What did you learn through this experience?

- Do you collect anything?

- Make a list of 50 things you love to do.

What topics do you read about?  What topics keep you surfing the net for hours?  What magazines do you subscribe to?

-  Is there anything you've always really wanted to do or learn more about, but just haven't had the time?

-  How can you add value to the lives of others?

Can you think of a way to make money doing what you love?

What problems do others have that I can solve?

Why isn’t there a . . . ?

-  How can I fill an expanding need?

Is there a shortcoming in the services or goods provided by others that I can fix?

Whether it’s reading comic books, collecting something, taking care of houseplants, visiting flea markets, wine tasting, listening to opera, planning baby showers for your friends, organizing birthday parties for your kids, making or building something, you can turn your passion into your business.  When you enjoy what you’re doing, succeeding at it is a lot easier than when you dislike your work.
